THE SIKH, Sikh Culture and Religion are one of the leading Culture and Religion of the world. Since early 14th century the basic language of the Sikhs is Punjabi. After Sikhs started migrating to the other parts of the world, their children born and brought up in these far away lands could not learn Punjabi due to the social and educational limitations. Then is the influx of Sikh Preachers who travel to these far away lands. Their language of preaching was Punjabi. Therefore the Sikhs born and brought up abroad could not communicate with the preachers. We have come up with the idea of propagating the Sikh Culture & Religion on a TV channel THE SIKH. Considering that we do not want to abolish the social and religious language of the Sikhs (Punjabi), we came up with an idea of broadcasting in English & Punjabi. THE SIKH, will be a Canada’s leading multimedia youth platform to cater to the interests and passions of 16-24 years old Canadian born Sikhs and the new comers from South Asian continent, offering them an exciting mix of music and non-music programming in Punjabi & English from Canada and Punjab through pre-recorded and live to air productions containing, humor, fashion & style and fiction, presented in its inimitable style. Right from its launch, the channel intends to reach the minds of Sikh Youth in Canada from coast to coast to coast. Grooming and broadcasting the Canadian talent of The Sikhs in Canada will be the first priority of this channel. South Asian Youth Talent Showcase that was established in 2000 will now be carried on THE SIKH every year. The talented youth of the Canadian South Asians (6-18 years) will participate every year and broadcasted by THE SIKH through its 18-hour pay channel distributed by your cable and dish network. With kids at the centre of its approach, THE SIKH will provide respectful, non-violent, empowering entertainment for both boys and girls alike.
